Antique Rugs

An antique rug, by trade convention, is at least 80–100 years old. Beyond the dateline, what matters is provenance — region, construction, dye, condition. We do not over-sell age. We sell the piece as it is, with the documentation to back it.

Every antique in this collection has been physically reviewed in our Boston atelier. We document the region (Anatolian / Persian-tradition / Caucasian / Central Asian), the approximate decade, the dye composition (vegetable / synthetic / mixed), the knot type and density, and any restoration history. The product page tells you what we know — and what we don't.

Why buyers choose antique: The patina is impossible to fake. Decades of careful use soften the palette and tighten the wool in ways that newly-made rugs cannot replicate. A 1920s antique Oushak from a known workshop, in good condition, will hold or appreciate in value across the next 50 years.

What to inspect on a product page: The condition photos (front, back, edges, ends), the provenance notes, and the disclosure of any restoration. We share both.
