Persian Rugs

"Persian" is an umbrella for centuries of distinct regional weaving traditions — Tabriz (very fine, medallion-floral), Kashan (silk-and-wool, classical), Heriz (bold geometrics), Bidjar (ultra-dense "iron rugs"), Isfahan and Nain (the finest knot counts in the world).

The collector's notes — provenance & construction

Important disclosure. Every piece in this collection is woven in the Persian tradition in Afghanistan. We do not sell Iranian-woven rugs that have been smuggled or mis-labeled — that's industry-standard luxury practice and we disclose it on every product page.

Hand-knotted with the Senneh (Persian) knot. A finer rug can hold well over a hundred knots per square inch; ask us for the count on any rug (Bidjar and Isfahan traditions push 250–500 KPSI in their finest examples). Wool pile on cotton foundation. A room-size rug in this tradition can take many months to weave by hand.

Best rooms: Formal living rooms, dining rooms with grand-scale furniture, libraries, primary suites in larger homes.
