About this piece

A tribal rug featuring the traditional Ayena Gul pattern—mirror-flower geometry and artisan heritage in a versatile scale.

Craftsmanship & Provenance
Hand-knotted by Afghan artisans trained in traditional tribal weaving techniques, this 4'1" × 6'5" piece reflects the disciplined geometry and vibrant palette characteristic of Central Asian rug-making. The Ayena Gul (mirror flower) pattern—with its repeating floral medallions and balanced composition—requires exceptional technical skill and pattern memory. Woven on a vertical loom with careful attention to motif clarity and color distribution, each knot contributes to a surface of remarkable density and visual clarity.

Materials & Construction
Crafted from hand-spun Ghazni wool colored with natural vegetable dyes, the rug features a rich palette of traditional tribal colors—ruby, emerald, ivory, and charcoal—arranged in rhythmic geometric bands. Ghazni wool—prized for its superior fiber length, softness, and ability to absorb and hold vibrant dyes—creates dense pile construction with exceptional tactile depth. The fine knotting ensures crisp motif definition, while the wool's natural luster enhances the rich color work.

Design & Aesthetic
Traditional Ayena Gul motifs—repeating mirror-flower medallions—create visual rhythm across the field while maintaining compositional balance. The 4'1" × 6'5" scale (approximately 26 square feet) makes this piece ideal for entryways, beneath coffee tables, anchoring seating areas, or defining bedroom zones. Works beautifully with neutral furnishings, natural wood, and gallery-like spaces that allow the pattern to command attention.

Dimensions & Care
Measures 4'1" × 6'5". Suitable for high-traffic areas; the dense Ghazni wool construction ensures longevity. Professional cleaning recommended.

One-of-a-kind.
